Moyes - "We're taking Spurs' position"

Everton have made an enquiry about Middlesbrough's £10m-rated striker Yakubu, BBC Sport understands.Boss David Moyes wants to strengthen his attacking options after selling James Beattie to Sheffield United and losing James Vaughan to injury.Moyes is now expected to follow up his interest with a firm bid, testing Middlesbrough's resolve to keep the 24-year-old Nigerian. He may also make an £8m bid for Benfica midfielder Manuel Fernandes, 21.Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate may prove a reluctant seller but could be tempted by money from the sale of Yakubu to revamp other areas of his squad.Moyes switched his attention back to Fernandes, who had a successful loan period at Everton last season, after failing with an £11m offer for Porto's Argentine captain Luis Gonzalez.Fernandes is keen to return to the Premier League and has been heavily linked with Manchester City but Moyes is ready to hijack such a move.He has stepped up his transfer activity after completing a £6m move for Wigan's England Under-21 defender Leighton Baines.Fernandes started last season on loan at Portsmouth but moved to Everton in January and the elegant player soon established himself as a fans' favourite.
Fernandes and Yakabu would be sick for them.I will be them on FM 2008 if these transfers go through.

There is no way in hell Yakubu is better than Keane.LMFAO!What the f*ck?!Have you actually seen Yakubu play live? He is one of the most lazy players i have ever seen.About the last 3 premiership seasons back it up?Clearly, as Boro have been such a force.....*slaps head*

Goalkeeping wise - HowardDefence wise - Everton will be stronger this season with Baines left back, Hibbert back to full fitness and Lescott playing centre backMidfield wise - Arteta + Cahill + Fernandes along with a consistent McFadden = much better than Spurs' midfieldStriker wise - Obviously Spurs are better.

Lescott better than Dawson?!LMAOMalbranque is light years ahead of Mcfadden. And Lennon on his day is better than Arteta.

Spurs conceded 54 league goals last season.Everton conceded 36 and have improved their defence.
Dawson was an absolute rock when called on, when King was out.It wasnt his fault he was partnered by clowns such as Gardner, Rocha and Davenport in most games last season. He is so underated its unreal. And as for this Everton-Spurs talk, well we will all see Tuesday night who's the better team.Till then, the wild and rash comments in this topic need to be stopped.

Fernandes is bigAm i the only one that thinks Newcastle will be fighting for 5th or even 4th?They've got a sick keeper. They have improved their defence ALOT with 2 good signings in Cacapa and Rozenhal, maybe need 1 or 2 more defenders. Their midfield has always been decent and they have added Geremi and Barton 2 that and their strikers are looking big aswellViduka and Martis or Viduka and Owen could merkThen they got Luque who could do well under Big Sam as he gets the best out of players and Luque is actually very good on his day and they got Smith and even Ameobiif needs beBig Sam made Bolton hard to play against and he will probably do the same at Newcastle but he's got much bettter attacking options than he had a BoltonCan't wait 4 the season 2 start, the title race is gonna be big and so is the race for 4th
