Edelman - 'Business as usual' after Dien sale

Managing Director Keith Edelman believes the sale of David Deinâs shares and the establishment of the Red and White group will have little impact on the future of Arsenal Football Club.It was announced on Thursday that the former vice-chairmanâs 14.58 per cent stakeholding had been bought by a company jointly-owned by two businessmen, Alisher Usmanov and Farhad Moshiri. It is called the Red and White group and would be chaired by Mr Dein. The move has re-ignited speculation about a possible takeover. But Mr Edelman believes the financial strength of the club and the dedication of the board means it will be âbusiness as usualâ for the forseeable future.âWe are in a very good financial position. That will be demonstrated at the end of the month [september]. I donât think it changes the club very much in terms of its progress and its future. Our attitude is business as usual.âWe have to look at where we are currently. We are in a good position. We are in good financial health and the club is run by a board of directors who love the club. The Bracewell-Smith and Hill-Wood families go back generations. While Danny [Fiszman] is a huge fan of the club as well as being a big shareholder.âI just see this as a shareholding moving from one party to another.â ------------------Great News.

Structure wise no immediate change.Power wise no change. Are they bothered? Of course they are, they might tell you publically they dont care but a lot of emails where getting sent around that boardroom yesterday evening...The board have agreed a lockdown on ther shares until April (I think) 2008. However collectively they own 44.95%Danny Fiszman owns 24%/15,000 shares.Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith owns 15.8%/9,893 shares.Carr Family owns 4.35%/2,722 shares.Peter Hill-Wood owns 0.8%/500 shares.Stan Kroenke owns 11.26%.Red & White Group now owns 14.58%/9,072 shares. The worry is that firstly there is over 29% of shares out there in the open owned by small investors. and with Kroenke buying 9.9% of his shares from ITV at £6,800 per shareand with Usmanov buying Dein's shares at around £8,200 per shareThem shares are going up, they cant/wont buy at those prices & for those sort of P, them small investors will sell when offered and neither Kroenke or Usmanov even have to get all of the 29% to be at takeover stage.
