A 17-year-old boy has been stabbed to death in the street.The teenager, who has not been named, was found in Newham, east London, shortly before midnight yesterday.Scotland Yard said two 16-year-old boys have been arrested in connection with the death, which is not believed to be gang-related.Officers were called at about 11.40pm yesterday by paramedics responding to reports of a stabbing.A police spokesman said officers are still trying to trace the family of the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.He said: "Inquiries continue to establish the circumstances that led to the incident but at this early stage we do not believe the murder to be gang-related."The death is the latest in a grim toll of young people murdered with knives and guns in the capital.Other victims include Ben Hitchcock, 16, killed by a single stab wound after a street fight in Beckenham, and student Sian Simpson, 18, stabbed to death in Croydon.Last week it emerged that police have identified a potential 257 gangs in London, some of whom are known to be linked to serious violence.An incident room has opened at Barking under Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Wratten, of the homicide and serious crime command.A post mortem examination is expected to take place tomorrow.Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 020 8345 3715 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
