haters

Not really - Nigerians and Jamaicans particularly have stereotypes about each other. Its not hate - its just misunderstanding.

nah it seems a lot more like hate from the side of Africans based on my experience on this forum and at uni

yes we all have bad stereotypes but we as Jamaicans are never taught to look down on you, we are never taught that we are a better calibre of people

we never got warned about socialising with you. Our parents even if they hold silly stereotypes are very accepting of us having partners from the continent. I really don't think you guys can say the same

it is hate and its sad for you

agree on this, but this part, no f*cking way.

I dont see how you can agree with one and not the other

if the stereotypes ran deep enough for us to think we are better then the bit in red couldn't be true

we are  not taught that they are lower than us. this is my experience

we might have amongst us people who make ignorant jokes but it's not deep rooted as it is for the other side - as you can see repeatedly with attitudes on here. You don't see that deep rooted fuckry from caribbean people on here do you?

It's pretty simple. I've been within many of both homes, and I can honestly say I've never heard any Jamaican parents say to their child not to hang around with Africans, especially not in the same disdain as African parents anyway.

Have I heard Tyrone giving his little cousin Keisha a whole heap of sly and not so sly digs cos her new boyfriend is Tunde...

some of the sh*t that used to get dropped was stand up material

I could imagine.Somalian sends were something else.

i was a top deflector

naij/congolese niggas used to get ended

What a weird combination naij/congolese - how come - which insults would result in Tunde and Benedict getting ended?

obviously im wise enough to know better so its whatever its all banter when i look back at school daze the tension between the jamos and affz was intense. loool

That African booboo scratcher line was strong still

Turned nuff man Jamaican in the late 90's/00's

Lol

Even other Caribs were calling themselves Jamaican.

I remember that piff ting on X Factor got dashed cos she caught a case using that phrase, was a Moroccan ting aswell smfh

From what I gather

West Afs look down on Caribs as being lowly educated and disruptive.

Caribs look down on West Afs as being ugly/undesirable.

The amount of times I've heard the phrase "... is African? rah, don't look it"

Or

"her head was tuff, like an African"

I see what Grafter is saying about the hurtful comments but it doesn't get worse than slave unfortunately, if Caribs had the ammunition they'd probably use it tbh

But still, it's a despicable slur to throw.

Caribs usually retort with the drop lip, rubber lips, dry foot etc... or they did in my day anyway, must have been the images from the ads, probably seems ineffective in comparison but may well be as hurtful, can remember a few African kids crying in Primary school over them disses.

It's all bullshit though and anybody who perpetuates the ill feeling needs to grow up.

I do find the term Jamo offensive though.

i just want all (blacks especially) to accept & respect without africans, they won't exist

all that culture, language, country came after

in my experiences, alot of west indians find it very hard if at all to accept africans birth them

they forget or don't know africans went out to the world before slavery

that said, the slave trade took it to a next level

respect where you came from
