Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is stalling on making his decision over the future of his on-loan striker Jay Simpson, but is pleased the teenager is showing real potential at the Den.In response to questions from the ‘News’, the Frenchman said: “At the moment it is too early to say if he [Jay Simpson] has a future, but I think so yes.“He has done extremely well and has scored goals. I always thought Jay was a very good player and the fact he can get good experience at Millwall makes us all happy, because he is not only a good player but a very nice boy.”Simpson raced through the Arsenal academy and became the first man to score a hat-trick a the Emirates when he rattled in three in the FA youth cup back in February 2007. He was built as a goal-scoring striker in the mould of idol Ian Wright; playing on the shoulder of the last defender. It has raised some concern that successive managers at the Den, Willie Donachie and now Kenny Jackett, have preferred to play him as a wide man.Wenger denies making any order as part of the loan deal, but insists that it can only be a good thing: “Jay can play anywhere and when a player goes out on loan you have to accept the club he goes to can use him as a wide player and as a striker.“When you give out a central defender or midfielder you want them to play in their position. For a striker it is always very positive that he is used in different positions.”
