All I'm left wondering after that is. Fergie spent time talking with both of these men. First met LVG in the 90's when LVG has already mastered the "how to succeed in Europe" task. Knew both men's personal demeanour and stature, knew of both men's style if play.

Yet he concluded the Moyes was the standout candidate.

Now overlooking LVG is understandable, he's one man but Fergie has shared a bottle of wine with more managers than any non-autistic person could name. Based on demeanour alone Moyes is dwarfed by LVG. I can't imagine Moyes ever standing up and holding his own in a one on one convo with Fergie let alone become boss after him.

(Saying that maybe that last line explains the "standout candidate" part).
