I got a question that needs answering..I am running for President of the Student Union next month for year 2008-2009.however, It is a sabbatical position. Therefore, the pay will probably be around £6-7k per annum.. does this effect my current benefits, housing benefits, council tax benefits etc.?

I think it does yeah, you cant go on benefits if you have another source of income.(im not on them but i think thats true)
But what if you are on sicknes benefit and returning to p/t work temporary?
you probably will still get benefits but a reduced amount, i think you can still claim if your doing part time work that is under 16 hours per week

even if its part time, would have thought that it would affect your benefits. 7ks quite a lot for part time work and i'm sure you have to pay tax on over 5k. Is this for uni? cause our SU president gets 12-13k a year.
