The Daily Mail has claimed that Manchester City are set to land Brazalian star Ronaldinho from Barcelona this summer.City have been ridiculed for their ambitious plans to land players with the calibre of Ronaldinho, however all the signs point to possibly the one of the biggest shock transfers in the history of the Premier League.City officials are set to fly to Brazil to meet Ronaldinho face-to-face this week and Barcelona are said to have given City clearance to talk to the star. This is the latest development in a series of meetings between club and player with Ronaldinho’s agent and brother Roberto de Assis visitng Eastlands two months ago.Another sign that points to the transfer of the world renowned star is that Manchester City’s new Executive Chairman Garry Cook was once Brand President at Nike, the company which sponsor Ronaldinho in a long-term deal.Ronaldinho, 28, is one of the biggest names in world football and has one the FIFA World Player of the Year award twice, something only achieved by two players (Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo) since the award began in 1991.The Brazilian star began his career at Gremio before leaving for French team PSG. Although well known from his time at Gremio it was here in Paris that Ronaldinho caught the eye of the world and made a name for himself. In 2003 Ronaldinho earnt himself a £21 million move to Spanish giants Barcelona where Ronaldinho undoubtedly became the worlds best at the time.A potential set-back in the deal is Ronaldinho’s wage demands, understood to be around £200,000-a-week, a contract that would see Ronaldinho become the highest paid player in England by over £65,000 compared to John Terry’s £135,000-a-week.However, with owner Thaksin Shinawatra’s billions at his disposal, it is unlikely that these wage demands will deter City in their bid for European qualification.A source for the Daily Mail in Spain said: “Ronaldinho is showing great interest in going to England and while there is still much negotiating ahead, it is possible. Also in City’s favour is this: who else can afford him?”Any new manager will need to have assurances about Ronaldinho’s fitness levels, with former manager Frank Rijkaard especially condemning the Brazilian’s match fitness. If Ronaldinho arrives at Eastlands he will most likely be presented with his favoured number 10 and the club are sure to land a financial boost from merchandising related to the Brazilian. Barcelona’s club shop was dominated by various Ronaldinho merchandise including key rings, posters, games and his own brands of kits and balls.City, who also hope to develop their status in the Far East, are sure to grow in support in Asia with the signing of Ronaldinho were the Brazilian star was still voted as the “Best Player in the World” ahead of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo in a poll of the Asian Football fans.Manchester City had been initially linked with Ronaldinho over a month ago due to Ronaldinho’s agent being present at a City game. However, AC Milan were believed to have won the race for the star but now it appears that there will be no move to Italy for the Brazilian.Chelsea were also said to be interested and were strongly linked with a move for the past few transfer windows, but the Daily Mail claims that the “wage demands were too much even for Abramovich”.[source: Daily Mail]

Villarreal have agreed a deal to sign American starlet Jozy Altidore. The Spanish outfit, who finished second in La Liga last term, have brokered a transfer with Major League Soccer - who hold the registrations of all the players in America's top-league.The New York Red Bulls ace is now set to talk terms with the Yellow Submarines - but he is looking forward to making the move to Spain."I'm just excited about a new challenge," Altidore told the New York Times."And whether I stay with Villarreal or get loaned out, I'm excited to be going to play at a higher level."I'd like to play in the Olympics, but if the club might say no, but then again, that's in the future."The 18-year-old had been linked with a host of clubs in the last few months with Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid all said to be keen.Reports in Spain are already suggesting that Altidore could be loaned out to Recreativo de Huelva next season.MLS happyMLS admitted the deal was too go to turn down for the 18-year-old international."This was a decision we and the Red Bulls took rationally, with the objective to achieve a couple of things: provide Jozy with an opportunity he's been looking for, and more importantly from our point of view, give us resources to elevate the team and the league," MLS deputy commissioner Ivan Gazidis said."It's an offer we wouldn't be accepting unless we believed the money gave us the opportunity to make the Red Bulls and MLS better. Our only motivation is that we received such value that it can let us make a step forward."

Villa combined with Torres to devastating effect with a hat-trick in Spain's 4-1 demolition of Russia in their opening Euro 2008 fixture on Tuesday. And Reds boss Benitez is keen to see the pair wreak similar havoc on Premier League defences next season.Torres took to England's top flight like a fish to water after moving from Atletico Madrid for £27million last summer - and Valencia director Juan Sanchez admits Villa's price tag will rise with every goal he scores at Euro 2008.Villa looks destined to leave Los Che this summer, as the Primera Liga side's financial worries dictate that they will be required to reluctantly part with their biggest assets.Villa certainly tops the list in the Mestalla sale and new Valencia boss Unai Emery can expect a busy close season as he sets about reshuffling his pack. His star striker is valued in the region of around £17million, but that figure could rocket if he continues his electric form in Austria and Switzerland.Villa's current employers are prepared to sit out a bidding war, with Sanchez revealing that the club will bide their time before deciding on the player's worth."He has a contract and is having a great Euro," the Spanish director said in The Sun. "We are calm and we hope he will continue to score many goals. You never know what will happen if we get offers."It's not a question of putting a price on him."What will come in the future will be assessed then."Chelsea and Barcelona have also been linked with Villa, but it remains to be seen whether the Blues' interest will continue following the announcement that Luiz Felipe Scolari is set to become their new boss. However, despite the growing speculation surrounding his future, the talented forward is refusing to be drawn on the issue until after Euro 2008."I'm not going to speak about my future until after the Championships," he insisted.

Emmanuel Adebayor’s agent, Stephane Courbis, admits that his player couldn’t say no to Milan as the club try and swoop for the wanted striker. The Rossoneri are trying to lure the Togolese striker from the Emirates and to the San Siro following his stunning performances last term with Arsenal.Milan have made it very clear that they want the hit-man at their club for next season and Adriano Galliani is working to negotiate a possible deal with the Gunner’s.There has been speculation that Arsenal will say no to Milan but, if the right offer comes along, they will not be able to stop the player from leaving. The player’s agent reveals that they would turn not down a move to the Rossoneri. “Adebayor is doing well at Arsenal,” Courbis told Radio Radio. “However, when a club like Milan calls it’s very difficult to say no,” Reports in Italy claim the Rossoneri are preparing a mega bid for Adebayor as they look to fill the vancant role left by Alberto Gilardino following his move to Fiorentina. Milan failed to qualify for the Champions League this season and the club has already stated that they will be focused on winning the Scudetto next term following a baron spell domestically.

NEC Nijmegen claim Chelsea striker Ben Sahar will be joining Portsmouth on loan next season.Dutch club NEC had been hoping to recruit the Israel international after agreeing a deal with Chelsea earlier this month. However, NEC have now revealed that Sahar will not be heading to the Eredivisie, and instead say he will be linking up with FA Cup winners Portsmouth."We had been busy with Sahar for two months," NEC technical director Carlos Aalbers told the club's official website.Financially impossible"At one moment, it seemed so good that he would be here."The boy had given a good feeling to NEC, but eventually we became entangled in all kinds of rules."It has been a financially impossible case and we have had to draw a line under it."Sahar has made five substitute appearances during his Chelsea career and spent spells on loan at Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday last season.

The Portugal international has courted interest from a number of top clubs around Europe, with Manchester United as well as Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus linked with the player.Veloso's agent, Paulo Barbosa, has revealed Arsenal have added their name to that list after contacting him about the 22-year-old midfielder."Actually, we did not have normal contact from the Arsenal board, but from a member of the technical staff at the club," said Barbosa."At the moment there is not a formal offer yet, but it is possible that will happen soon as Juventus and AC Milan have shown an equal interest in the player."A potential stumbling block in the sale of Veloso is the fact he has a contract with Sporting until 2013, although the player claimed earlier this month that he is open to offers to move abroad. And Barbosa believes Sporting are willing to sell one of the most prized assets if the price is right. He added: "He (Veloso) is on holiday, now. Sporting Lisbon has not commented just yet, but until a formal offer is made that is perfectly normal."As long as there is a good offer for both parties - the club and Veloso - then negotiation can be done for sure."It is not secret to anyone that he wants to play abroad."Reports suggest that Sporting Lisbon have set a 30 million euros buy-out clause in Veloso's contract. Despite that, Barbosa does not believe the club will stand in the way of a young player leaving the club.Sporting have already shown a willingness to sell their best young talent following the departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani to Manchester United in recent seasons."The buy-out clause is another issue," Barbosa added. "If they argue that value that would mean the youngsters would never the club."

So Lupoli, Rossi & Pique all failed 2 make the grade...

Lupoli Yes.

Rossi No - Wanted first team football and was never gonna get with Rooney, Tevez, Saha all infront of him with us playing 4-3-3, 4-5-1.

Pique No - Done well when called upon will go on to become one of the best centrebacks in the world imo, same as Rossi wants more first action and isnt gonna get that with the best centreback paring in the world ATM ahead of him in the pecking order.

This isn't fm rudeboy

I have seen Pique in some reserve games this season

plays like any Dawson clumsy and sluggish

Will never be world class
