What's everyones experience with the genius bar and getting their macs fixed in terms of cost and time?

 

My battery is dead - switches off as soon as I take the cord out. Done an SMC reset which is one of the solutions I found online but it didn't work. If it is the battery then it looks like a replacement with Apple costs over £100 . Could be my charger as its split in various places. Will they do on site check or will they take it in?

 

I really need my laptop till the end of next week so I hope it doesn't f*ck up in that time.

They'll do a diagnostic on site, then give you the quote for the repair/replacement part

 

Time wise, it's cool, as you have a dedicated appointment..... Cost is the bitch that makes me hate Apple sometimes

When I needed my screen replaced I called up Sunday, took it in to some repairs place in Vauxhall via Apple, Monday and got it back Thursday.

Is anyone else's Safari slow?  I thought it was just my mac getting old (3 years) but I just fired up Google Chrome and it made Safari look like Internet Explorer circa 2002.

 

Deleted cookies and everything, still very slow smh.

My laptop sounds like an aeroplane.

 

The fans are louder than the TV shows im trying to watch through my device.

 

I've booked it into the genius store this week, but I think it's on its way out 

Gonna get them to completely wipe it so i can start again

 

It's probably about time I bought a new model, but I really don't want to part with all that money again in one go

This is the issue with mine whenever I play matched on FM. Sounds like it's taking off.

Unless you got a dedicated graphics card in your mac its going to sound like that

When i had FM on mine it would be bless in the menus then when a match starts it would start blowing.

If you do have a dedicated card in there its most likely dust.

Just make sure you haven't got a runaway process or something in Activity Monitor

Is there an easy way to resume a paused application without having to type the matrix code in to the terminal??

What are you going to use it for?

light work - get a macbook but be aware it comes with 1 USB-c port and 1 headphone port only.

otherwise get a MacBook Pro but there is a big refresh coming in a couple months

Will probably get announced at the iphone event in september, will co-incide with the new osx drop i reckon which will be very soon, think its on the last betas atm

even if you do wait around and don't like it, you can get the old model for a cheaper price after the new one drops

personally I could care less about TouchID, and USB-C is a luxury, I wanna see what they do with the actual model build

Low copping an old one in a new cycle, the money saved will just be needed quicker down the line for an earlier upgrade when the shit starts getting sluggish.

 

Would only cop a latest maxed out model got the longevity, makes it worth every penny.
