Dani Alves moves the Nou Camp

Like Cantona & Yorke

Or like Beckham, Scholes, Neville, Butt,

Uniteds best work of that period, started intrinsically within the club, you can spend big money on established players when you've got that nucleus.

Have a team of young hungry players, with a couple top class experienced heads is the best way, the Van Gaal and Ajax way, and what United want to return to.

Carrick/De Gea are their only top class heads

Thats the difference with English teams when they win CL they stand still

You strengthen with quality not age

When they get overtaken by their counterparts on the continent

They are in shock to how it happen

And the other teams do what?

They don't stand still, yet no team has retained the CL?

Madrid won the CL, last year, spent a lot of money in the summer, only to.....regress.

We have the chance to correct the wrongs of this seasons CL next season

Can your club say the same?

I personally think that United need to buy top and established players at this point, especially if they become available like Alves is.

I would rather be going into the CL with Alves next season than Clyne.

Once you're back on top is when you start priortising for top younger players over top established ones. It took Wenger long enough to realise he had to start buying greatness to hope to become great again.

Agree but It depends on the quality of your young players tbh.

Ajax, United, Barca have all won loads with a gifted generation of young players.

You need a balance of both(well you don't need, but its desirable)

Man Utd don't have no quality young players tho thats the problem

No but i'm addressing your argument about English teams winning CL and regressing.

Real Madrid did exactly that, made another top 5 transfer of all time money wise, only to regress.

Yet you wanna sign a right back with more championship experience then champions league over someone playing in the champions league final.

Sign both..

But using the same analogy i would take Dybala or Vietto over Tevez.

One of the main reasons why teams like Liverpool are in a very very bad way

Yorke had never played in the CL before had he? Neither had Carrick irrc. Tevez was playing for West Ham. Van Der Sar came from Fulham.

By your definition we shouldn't have signed any of them.

We shouldn't have signed Ronaldo to replace Beckham either or De Gea or many other great young players we have signed and developed other the years.

Exactly

We hardly sign finished article

to sign Alves wouldn't be a step back , more of a stop gap

like signing Bastian to replace carrick. A good signing just not a forward thinking one.

Nothing wrong with an Alves signing its just such a PSG/CITY type signing. Ageing players to replace with within 2 years.

We do not work like this.

Neither option is the bad option, man utd will need to buy the young rb in a few years regardless anyways if they get Alves.

If he comes and settles he's good for a few years before you have to spend again on the young guy.

If he don't take then boy he's not getting better and you've wasted time and money

This. It's a gamble worth taking , when Valencia isn't the back up replacement.

It is about balance though.

We don't have enough top class talents at the moment.

The best rb in the world becomes available, you sign him. You also sign a younger rb with potential to challenge him and learn from him also to rotate with him over a 60 game season.

We didn't sign an experienced CB to replace Vidic/Ferdinand. That decision has cost us.

It's not always about age for the best player in the discussed position though. However some positions the best players are older because of the experience they have picked up over years which tends to happen with CBs and DMs especially.

Stop gap yeah, step back - hell no.

There's no way a Step back is going from Valencia to Alves as RB.

Alves is on a free, it would be a perfect signing, someone to come in with experience, I've still got hope for Rafael (lol) so them two battling for the RB position is good enough for me.

If not Rafael then get one of these youngsters to become the understudy.

Going to take L on this

Silly of me thinking the policy was to sign the best players in world

Dose this mean real are going to be making a move for him?
Your better than this

Real have signed Danilo don't need a RB

Soo you signed a player worse than him but younger?

Fair enough
