DJ Next interview about max b

Where did you see Max B and Joe Budden going with their careers?

It was very similar with Max who has a God-given talent. He possesses that X factor. Immediately after meeting him, you could feel his energy and see his determination. You knew he was going to get big.

Max B’s appeal was denied last year. What is his situation like?

His appeal was denied, however it doesn’t mean that there’s no possibility of him getting out. We’re looking at every possibility there is for him to be free again.

Most recently, we sold Max B’s catalog to a company in New York. It’s part of the plan to get him out. It’s a bigger company with enough resources to put together a legal team we always wanted. I wasn’t a fan of Max’s legal representation. As a friend, I have advised Max to let us find him new lawyers in New Jersey. Amalgam was willing to pay the bill, but he had a relationship with [lawyer Gerald M.] Saluti and that’s who he chose to go with.

I was there with him during the trial. I would drive everyday back and forth from Boston to New Jersey to watch it. I saw it all go down. I was disappointed with his legal representation. But now we sold his catalog, and this company will bring the financial resources to get him out. Nothing is definitive, but it’s looking like it’s going to take two years to go through [before anything happens].

Did you expect that he was going to get such a high sentence?

I didn’t. When we first signed him, we were unaware of that situation and we ran into other legal issues with Max. Our original plan was to put out Max B’s album “Vigilante Season” back in ‘08. Right when we’re about to release the record, we get a cease and desist letter from Jim Jones. We wanted to take every legal precaution and spent two years battling Jim Jones in court up to the point that we actually won and the judge ordered all the rights to go back to Amalgam. Once we

get this situation sorted out, Max gets locked up over the other situation. We didn’t really see that coming.

I invested in Max, we built a plan together. I could see his star quality from miles away. It was evident that this guy was big. His presence is still felt as you can hear his influence in some of the songs they play on the radio today.

How is he holding up?

He’s actually doing really good. He’s allowed to do phone interviews and he has focused more on doing school work. He studies a program now where he teaches himself a lot of different things, including law. Considering the situation, he’s doing pretty good and is in positive spirits. He’s happy about the deal we just did with the company in New York.

Just to make it clear, we sold the catalog so there won’t be new material coming out on Amalgam, but I will say this. I’m also a film-maker. I did a documentary on the Egyptian revolution and recently shot another one on medical properties of the cannabis plant called Harvest Season. I also have a film coming out on Max B that’s titled Charly Rambo: The Max B Story. It’s going to document everything from Max B’s younger years all the way up to his prison sentence. There will be an unreleased Max B track in the film and on the soundtrack.

As far as Max B material being released, we sold the catalog to this new company. There’s indeed a bunch of unreleased Max B songs that are in their possession. It’s up to them to decide what they want to do with them – if they release a new album or put the songs out. I think right now, the main focus before putting out any new material is on getting everything in place for his legal situation so that’s straight before his music starts coming out.

Anyextee: Max B Could Be Released as Soon as 2 Years

Harlem rapper Max B is currently serving 75 years in prison after he was found guilty of murder conspiracy and robbery charges. But Max B's legal issues and current incarceration may not be as grim as it is on paper. Amalgam Digital CEO Anyextee recently spoke on potentially raising money via Max B's music catalog to fund for another legal team. Anyextee believes the" Free Max B" campaign could become a reality.

"We recently sold Max B's catalog as part of a play to help get him out. He and his family were excited about this as the company we sold it to has agreed to put up the required capital to fund a proper legal defense using the defense attorneys that we always wanted to use," explains Anyextee. "It's possible Charly could be out as soon as two years if the legal team is successful in their strategy. He already has time served under his belt."

In addition to raising money via Max B's music, Anyextee spoke on an upcoming film entitled "Charly Rambo: The Max B Story." "I just did a deal for the film I have coming out entitled Charly Rambo: The Max B Story, and you can expect to hear exclusive Max B tracks in the movie," said Anyextee. "I will also say this, there are still quality unreleased Max B tracks and Pro Tools sessions."

What do you think about what Anyextee has to say about Max B's incarceration and his potential release? Do you think it's a possibility Max could see light in as little as two years? Share your thoughts below.

Are you still acting the know it all?

French always talks about Max, brought him on his album, kept him relevant as he he could up until now and that December footage of them on the phone leads me to believe otherwise.

Plus a percentage of each sale from Excuse My French went to Max's family.

Your telling me, what he'd do, when history tells you otherwise. So that makes you the one trying to be the know it all...

The same things Jim did...

Yeah of course it did... Max was the only person he paid to feature on the album as well... 8-)
