do you know about tax regression and progression? because im writing about how tax on sales effects marks and spencers, i've basically wrote (this isnt what ive wrote out on word) if the government start fixing taxes on goods that are sold by marks n spencers during this current economy for everyone then the poorer people will be relied on too much by the company and this would be a major disadvantage for shareholders. If Marks and Spencer have to raise their prices to get the income needed to statisfy shareholders and company profit but at the same time push out 30% of their lower income customers who buy the cheaper produce and now think there to expensive then your in real deep. So government need to charge the richer more basically but this might cause a conflict " why should we pay more because we earn more". If Marks and Spencer are willing to stick to their prices for their cheaper products even at higher taxing to keep the lower income consumers shoping their but push the boat out on the prices for the more expensive good they sell like tops and furniture to balance out the profits theve lost then they are in a win win situation untill the current economy gets back to a normal level.

If Government say right, we want 30p of any grociery item you sell... and 50p off any clothing you sell, would Marks and Spencer put up their clothes by 50p but keep the grocieries the same price because the lower income people can afford to buy the grocieries, its aboutneeds and wants, you dont need a skirt but you need a piece of chicken, put the clothes up 50p becaue higher income people it wont affect as much

see Marks and Spencer can attrack both ends of the scale thats the good thing, take Pri Mark for example if the government start raising taxs on their sales, then surely it will start to lose its reputation as " the cheap retailer for clothes ", wont the government target companies who are making alot of money during this period of the economy, like Lidle and Pri Mark
