THE TRAVEL THREAD

Very enjoyable holiday in Cancun - the nightlife wasn't as popping as I thought, but I didn't go to the 3 biggest venues, as I wanted to keep it strictly 'decent' music. Loads of yanks for obvious reasons and everybody is on a good vibe. Bar enjoying the delights of the all inclusive 5 star, putting it on yanks and drinking, also visited the ancient Mayan ruins of Coba. Recommend it highly.

Amsterdam

Best Indonesian > Toko Bersama. Make sure to get the aubergine dish as one of your choices.

Best Surinamese > Ram's Roti

Best Thai > Bird Snackbar (if its full, go to the restaurant across the street)

Best Pizza > La Perla, or Pazzi

Best Burger > Rotisserie (vegetarian option is pretty decent as well)

Best Coffee > Sweet Cup, or White Label

Good wine > Glou glou or DiVino

Good Hummus > Mana Mana or Sir Hummus

Other good vegetarian > Sir Hummus Kitchen (aubergine/falafel wraps), Mooshka (various dishes including really good veg burgers, run by an Ethiopian couple)

Other various > Foodware (various meals), Rainarai (Algerian food), Foodhallen (hipster food court), Razmataz (good gin bar), The Hoxton (decent hotel lounge for a coffee/drink

maybe the Amsterdam thread has more https://www.vip2.co.uk/forum/topic/13215-the-amsterdam-thread

The Indonesian and Surinamese will be the only things you probably can't get easily in London (compared to the others) so I'd recommend trying one of the two while you're here.

Thanks again for this

I went to encore festival the other week an we stayed walkin distance from rams roti

Omfg, best food I had in Amsterdam, and definitely best ive had in years full stop

Had the curry fish one day with the casava fries with the dried fish on top (my eyes are actually watering)

The roti is 100% the best roti i ever had in my entire life, never knew roti could be so soft

An this bara ting, world of joy!

Wish we had these people over here

Been once a few years ago but only really to watch Madrid derby.

I remember some area where we drank and ate taps all day too which was decent.

I'm going Lisbon to watch Arsenal.

Any good calm spots to get wasted before and after?

I've never been, but I've heard they're on arms out there.

Co-sign.

Vallecas is probably my favourite barrio in Madrid, lived there for a year - I could see the Rayo Vallecano pitch from my window.

Lavapies is a must, one stop south from Sol station (easily walkable). Mix between Brick Lane/Peckham and the barrio (Embajadores) was just named coolest city in Europe by TimeOut.

Tirso de Molina down to Lavapies has some of the best spots to drink/eat.

If needed I can plug you into a weed club there also.
