Senior ministers have backed demands for Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand to pay the £150,000 fine imposed on the BBC for their obscene behaviour. Justice Secretary Jack Straw, Communities Secretary Hazel Blears and Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell all added their voices to the outcry. There is outrage that the licence-fee payer will have to meet the fine imposed on Friday by the broadcasting watchdog Ofcom. article-1167571-044E7EA1000005DC-978_468x418.jpgBut Ross and Brand have responded defiantly by posting a photograph on the internet of themselves in high spirits with a group of friends, giving the impression that they 'couldn't care less' about the furore. Why should he pay the fine? It isn't his job to maintain standards on air. that's what the producer gets paid to do. That's why BY LAW they cannot fine a DJ for anything that goes out on air which is pre-recorded, because it is not their responsibility to edit or produce the spots.

He should pay the fine out of being a morally responsible citizen. Just like Fred Goodwin should repay some of his pension.It's nothing to do with him being legally responsible.
Bollocks. If the BBC is run so badly that things like this happen then the BBC should pay the fine. And the fact it comes out of taxpayers money is good because it makes people realise that this mind bogglingly enormous kitty the BBC have is THEIR TAX MONEY. The quicker people realise this, the sooner the BBC will have to become a far more efficient organisation.

You raise valid points. However, I think Jonathan Ross, being the powerful individual he is at the BBC, should come out and at least OFFER to pay the fine. It will do wonders for his public image, which I'm sure he cares about.

Man are talking like Jonathan Ross isn't the best celebrity interviewer around in our country right now.Since parkinson stopped Jonathon Ross has done well.
That's more of a testament to how sh*t our CELEBRITY interviewers are.Our political interviewers are STILL on point and would destroy most celebrities of whom we need a strong inquiry (i.e. after a scandal).

whats the big problem anyway. man is on a £6m contract and everyone is shouting about piling pressure as if it's REALLY a punishment. if man was earning £200,000 /pa and got this then it wld sting him. this is nothing for him. he has probbaly written the cheque and even stained it with baked beans while having breakfast and sent it to the BBC. the media are making noise so u lot can get on your noble high horses as you love to do.

Truth be told, they probably saved that amount of money when the suspended him without pay. It's not the presenters job to pay the fines either, I think it's just that they want these guys to be made an example (which obviously isn't working)._40055195_jonathanross.jpgYeah she got dat bitch titty
