A credit rating does not have to be obtained by continually making payments on things that you have got on credit, it can be obtained by NEVER having anything on credit thus having no blemishes against your name.

She's right but for the wrong reasons. The credit check is usually to confirm your address and identification, wouldnt really matter about your credit cards and status(unless your below 200). Most things you apply for check your credit because of this. In fact even getting an insurance quote online can trigger one of these enquiries.

I think companies make the assumption you are constantly trying to obtain credit and are getting declined. I think so anyway.
