Worth buying a brand new car to order ?

or just get same model year to 18 months older ?

buy outright or use the cash as a fat deposit and get something juicer on finance ?

personally, i dont see the point in brand new cars unless it's lease

a 2 year old car isnt gonna be much different from the same brand new model apart from maybe fancier shinier little tid bits and the saving would be worth more than the new bits

but then again ive never really been a car guy.

yeah its more for being to order it specifically to what i want then settle, searches are a lot more narrow and harder to find cos of specifics...

Yes, if you have a particular desired spec.

As for the rest, it’s more about understanding your intentions with the car...

Would you say the same about a mobile or clothes, out of curiosity?

How long you keeping the car? Which car is it? What are the options?

dont touch a pcp unless you truly know what your doing.

why?

the smart moneys always gonna go lightly used but if you want it spec'd up specifically then go for it

if the moneys gonna be sitting in the bank untouched anyway then buy it outright & dont waste money on interest

if you can put the money to work elsewhere (and make more on it than what the cars interest will be) then finance it

clothes yes, computers yes, tv's yes

phones, probably not, depends how old and which manufacturer, id get a year old. simply because the software lifecycle on androids is pretty shit and it may not get updates after 18 months of release, so i could buy a 2 year old device that gets 1 or no OS, security updates or bug fixes because the chipmaker has already abandoned the processor and more and more apps are optimised for the newer version of the OS. as has happened with my current phone which ive had since january last year and was released in 2015

most things i can buy older versions though

If you get bored quick then you should never be buying cars outright, especially if you then don’t sell it privately to a mug.

Adding spec is great but some spec has no residual value at all.

Yeah that’s not a problem however you buy, unless your mad young, admittedly with contract hire you may have to pick up the phone and speak to insurers rather than online quotes as it will read like “fronting” but that’s it.
