This year's Europa League, the new incarnation of the UEFA Cup, will have a team of six officials, rather than the usual four. Joining the referee, the fourth official and the two linesmen, the Europa League will see two officials positioned near the goal line, ostensibly to help with decisions in and around the penalty area - the theory being that they are able to offer a different angle to ensure penalty decisions are called correctly more often
