First week you're gonna want to have a significant outlay on a selection of spices/herbs/sauces, these will be worth their weight in gold when you're looking at the same selection of basic ingredients every day for a month.

If you want to save money on shopping, you should internet shop because then you only buy your essentials instead of picking up unnecessary crap.

you can do budget budget or decent/healthy budgetmy advice: dont shop at icelandhalf of the sh*t is below low quality like to the extent that you should avoid it seriouslyhalf of the sh*t is price marked £1 and sh*t to look cheap but is MORE EXPENSIVE THAN IN OTHER SHOPSAsda is where you wanna bewhat you need:1. big bag of rice2. big bag of pasta3. loads tinned tomatoes (from lidl)4. herbs and spices (mixed herbs and any general spice mix if you dont know what tastes good)5. tinned tuna (multi packs are cheapest)6. BONELESS CHICKEN LEG - around £2.50/kilo at any decent halal butchers - 1/4 of a kilo should do 1 person for 1 meal7. potatoes are pretty cheap too any easy enough to bung in the oven8. probably some eggs9. cheap brown bread10. maybe some cheese to beef up any feeble meal11. cheap noddles from lidlfrom that you can make easy meals
