how does a rice cooker even work, at what point do you wash the rice? 

rice cooking goes boil 8 mins, drain, rinse twice w/ cold water, steam . Does rice cooker do all those steps for you?

Yeh par boil the rice before washing, more starch gets released then you wash away all the starch after draining excess and steam. You  get separated fluffy grains. All basmati rice should he par boiled washed then steamed for optimum rice outcome

for a rice cooker ou just wash the rice until clear water and put it in the cooker, depending on the type of rice youre cooking, you add the water and salt and thats it.

so what is the advantage of a rice cooker if it is just boiling the rice in the same way as a philistine or savage would cook rice in a pan?
