He was ordered to complete 120 hours of community service and nine months supervision by Newcastle Magistrates, but the 22-year-old said he keeps missing probation meetings because he is travelling across the country to speak to potential new clubs.
Ranger currently earns just £30 a day and Highbury Corner Magistrates have agreed to change the punishment to the £5,000 fine so that he can find employment as soon as possible.
One possible destination for the forward is League One side Swindon Town, who have been linked with moves for Millwall player Dany N'Guessan and Ranger.
"Our search for a striker continues," Robins chairman Jed McCrory told the Swindon Advertiser.
"We're hoping to bring one in this week to strengthen the front line, as we still only have two and most teams have four.
"We've spoken to various strikers over the potential of coming and strengthening the club, each with their own different backgrounds and unique individual abilities.
"We're trying to conclude the deals as quickly as possible, but we're moving sensibly to ensure they are the right type of strikers who will score the goals to aid our push for promotion this year."

He is not a bad boy at all, he is surrounded by certain wrong characters due to where he grew up. He's a nice down to earth guy on a one to one level.

It's a shame he can't breakaway from the dodgy characters. Ultimately he will be judged on his own merits or failures and its time for him to grow up and do what's right for him.

Footballer Nile Ranger has been cleared of raping a woman in a hotel.

The former Newcastle United striker banged on the sides of the dock and said 'Thank God for that' after the foreman delivered the not guilty verdict.
As he walked out he thanked the jury and pulling off his tie said: 'What a joke.'
