Watt signs contract extension with ArsenalArsenal Football Club is pleased to announce Sanchez Watt has signed a new extended contract with the Club. The pacy forward, 18, has enjoyed a strong start to the season appearing in both successful Carling Cup matches as well as all Reserve League fixtures to date, with four goals from his six starts including a brace against Birmingham at St Andrews. Joining the Club in the Summer of 2007, Sanchez (full name Herschel Sanchez Watt) proved his goal-scoring ability last season having a major impact on the Club’s double-winning campaign with league and FA Youth Cup victories, scoring twice in the Semi-Final before striking in both legs of the Final at Emirates Stadium.On the international stage the Londoner has been capped for England at both Under-17 and Under-19 levels. Song signed a new "long term contract" with the Gunners in June 2008 and a report in The Sun this morning claims the Cameroon international has extended his deal to the end of the 2014/2015 season. An "Arsenal source" is quoted in The Sun: "He has earned a starting place. His workrate and application have been exemplary. It is an indication the boss believes he can form a key part of his team in the long term." After playing 42 matches last season, Song has established himself as the first choice defensive midfielder in the Arsenal midfield. He has played 17 games in 2009/2010, providing one assist.

England Youth international Rhys Murphy has today joined League One side Brentford on loan for three months. The 19-year-old striker who joined Arsenal as a scholar in 2007 has consistently proved his calibre in front of goal with a clutch of vital strikes for the Under-18s. Bagging a brace in the Gunners' FA Youth Cup Third Round victory over Aston Villa and the third goal in Arsenal's 3-1 quarter-final victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Rhys also hit winners in the Premier Academy League semi-final and final. A regular for England at youth level, he also played in the 2009 UEFA Under-19 Championships. Murphy will immediately join up with Brentford and will stay on loan with Andy Scott's side for three months until 24th February 2010.Rhys is the second Arsenal youngster to go on loan to Brentford in recent days. Young Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has also joined the west London club on loan, which runs until 20th December. Herschel needs to work hard..Its easier for the youngsters to get oppourtunities than it was back in the day for Pennant / Alliadire/ Bentley / Thomas etcRVP / Arsh / Edd I would say are head n shoulders above the rest.. Herschel could force his way into the side if he really works at his game
