Spanish sports daily Marca are reporting that Real Madrid's team of 13 cardiologists, a team widely considered to be among the best specialists in Spain and Europe, have warned Real Madrid midfielder Ruben de la Red about the dangers of returning to football, ruling the promising Spanish international out of a return to action

Diagnosed by each doctor to have a "serious heart problem", the probability that De La Red will someday be able to return to the pitch with Los Blancos or any other team has diminished significantly. Real Madrid have accordingly decided to terminate the player's multi-million euro playing contract and instead put him on a disability pension of close to €1,500 a month.

For his part, De La Red has refused to accept his condition has put an end to his career, and continues to look for solutions. The midfielder has even explored the possibility of taking the club to court.

De La Red collapsed last season in a Copa del Rey match because of an undiagnosed heart problem, but was lucky enough to not have suffered a serious complication from his condition. Having played with Spain in Euro 2008, he was one of Real Madrid's most promising youth products in recent years. Cyrus C. Malek, Goal.com

He's been with them since he was a kid trying to weasel out of paying up his contract is low, a compensation package I could understand.

Imagine if that was say Jonny Evans, would you be ok with it?

If they can spend all that money on kaka an ronaldo...

In my oppinion what they should do is pay of the remaining time on his contract. then offer him a place coaching one of their youth teams.
