Male Contraceptive Pill

Recommended Posts

The male pill will be a new form of hormonal contraception for men. It aims to allow men to control their fertility, in a similar way to the female contraceptive pill for women.

There are two main areas of research into male contraception:

* hormonal contraception, and

* non-hormonal methods.

How will hormonal male contraception work?

Hormonal male contraception uses synthetic hormones to temporarily stop sperm developing. It may take the form of:

* a single pill,

* a longer-acting implant or patch, or

* regular injections, for example, every month.

How will non-hormonal male contraception work?

Non-hormonal methods use other techniques to stop sperm entering a woman’s vagina, for example:

* blocking the tube that sperm pass through on their way to the penis (vas deferens), or

* injecting gel into this tube, to kill the sperm as they pass.

More research needed

Scientists have been researching male contraception for some years, but more research is needed to assess its long-term safety and effectiveness. To read about the research so far, go to the article Contraceptive jab for men.

Current male contraception

The current choice of contraception for men is limited to using condoms or having a vasectomy.

Excellent news. Of course the man will take the pill after all he doesn't want to be paying the CSA for a one nighter does he. Where as a woman says she is on the pill, isn't really and just wants a baby to claim benefits, CSA payments etc. The woman's day of selfishness and blackmail is coming to and end :o)

:lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
