best thing to get you motivated is to sit on your lazy ass and let life pass u by

its not hard to do. quit uni, get a dead end job

the yrs will run by,

then u see your mates doing well and boom

oh.. wait. by then it'll be too late?

or u can volunteer in nigeria and see how people are really living.

shd motivate the sh*t outta u to be grateful.

i find these type of threads annoying.

life isnt for everyone. dont fight it

You sound like someone that should have got a full time job instead of going uni. If you're not enjoying your course and socialising with other students you must be struggling to stay out of a depression.

Motivation for me is just massive optimism. I really and truly believe you can achieve the success you want (there is limits...for example i will never play in the premiership...something that has been difficult...but therapeutic for me to accept).

It has not all been positive for me because I've become more of a dreamer than a do'er.

The way I see it you have 1 life then you're dead. I need to start thinking that if I was told I had a terminal illness tomorrow with 7 months to live what would I be so angry I had wasted time not doing.

Most students are annoying little pricks but sometimes if you develop a positive attitude you will start to feed off theirs. If you're bringing negative vibes into uni and spreading it on other people then no one will be receptive toward you mane.

You're gonna have time in the future to be pissed off about life...not being able to wipe your own arse and maybe having to eat soup. Enjoy your youth (that goes out to everyone here including myself...not being a hypocrite).

It feels like theres nothing happening.

I wake up, Go to Uni, Come back to my room and sit on the PC all night. Repeat for the rest of the week.

I have no money so can't go out in the nights, Im bored. My flat mate is a c*nt. Living in halls is sh*t and full of pretentious pricks who have been smothered by mummy and daddy and now their free so can stay up past 12 and drink lots of alcopops. You dont realise how much I HATE typical students. Screaming outside all day. f*ck off please.

Dont see any of my mates back home any more, most of them are flat out coke heads.

So much Uni work, Stress.

Car insurence coming up, Got no job or money.

Think I need a hobby.

Whats your motivation, Whats keeping you going?

lol you sound exactly like how i used to a couple years ago...

i think now i still sometimes feel a lack of motivation, but generally in a happier more stable mind frame and can cope with more stress and still find a bit of enjoyment here and there.

things that id say helped me out of that rut and got me motivated or still do:

- dubstep culture. music is generally a good hobby/creative output (to forget your worries over) and limitless in terms of how much you can put into it and enjoy.

- percy spliff in the evening most weekdays to wash away stress and as a reward for me to strive to work hard in order to earn it. its actually a good "carrot" that allows me to take so much more "stick" than i could.

- family and loved ones' support and care. always helps to feel that theres some extra hands to help and shoulders to lean on, gives u a bit of warmth against the coldness of life sometimes.

also i know it seems like something you cant reach yet as a student, but definately think about the money. after all thats what makes the world turn, thats why your INVESTING in yourself by gettin a good level of education so you can maximise your earning potential. try thinking about the light at the end of the tunnel.

cant really think of any others right now, but those are the most striking ones that helped me have healthy motivation in life.

manuel, wot uni do you go to?

your uni experience does sound sh*t and not right, but dont worry mine was/is the same. theres nuffin wrong in it, you just dont hear from the ppl who didnt like it as much as the people who are all claiming its sick, thats why it seems "not right".

i wouldnt worry about it too much tbh. as long as your doing a good degree and aim your focus in the right direction you can go pretty far. the stress and work you did will be worth it when your places ahead of those ppl who just got mash up and did no work at uni for a mediocre degree.

so you dont get all the cliche sick uni experience, it would be good but their only memories and memories wont pay your mortgage and your bills. you might not be gettin the extras, but your at uni firstly to get a good degree so just make sure that happens.

manuel having read your blog you seem like your into your music why dont you try and get involved with like the uni's music events or the clubs in the local area promotion or something like that.

It would get you out and about meeting people What uni do you go to anyway? what's the music scene saying?

Anyway my motivation is success the idea of getting older and knowing that i didnt achieve or successfully do everything that I wanted to do makes me wanna die, I know its dramatic but that i really feel that way.

As long as I'm doing what i love i'll be content, hopefully money will come with that as well lol.

Sounds just like me. Getting tiresome now though cos I'm actually going to all these boring lectures then not doing any work after at all

I have been quite lucky in that I've got decent flatmates I get on with and have met a large variety of people I can socialise with.

My motivation is that I fear my mother, however, I haven't been doing my uni work, am disillusioned with my course and have been considering dropping out (if they don't kick me out at the end of the year anyway)

Definitely staying up here and working if I leave uni - can't face my Mum. The main reason I came to uni to do Journalism was that I felt that full time work in this career would be weird as I'd be going straight in as the youngest in the office at 18.

Sometimes people need to stop looking to the future and live in the moment. You're at uni, you literally have a bazillion and one things you can do with you're time. I sit at work sometimes and have sh*t days and think they grass is always greener but most of the time it aint.

You are in you're current situation because you put yourself there, if you feel like there's a problem then you're the only one who can do something about it. Stop feeling sorry for youself, find out what the problem is and act on it. You say you come home and sit on the computer all day. Why not do something productive with you're time?

If you want motivation look no further than this.

I did the bare minimum at uni, academically and socially, finished with maybe 2 good friends and a 2-2 degree. Just split up with my girl of many years and since then realised how little I was...living!

Try:

Exercise 5+ days a wee even a short 15 min jog

Spend less time on ur pc/xbox/ps3

That shud give u more energy, and time, just need money!

Work, or borrow from the bank or wherever you can, then go out and do stuff - there's so much to do at uni I regret not doing more. If u borrow money, don't worry, most students leave in a good bit of debt anyway.

best advice in here

in a situation where everything seems negative the only thing you can do is try to be optimistic, just believe in your ability and focus on your goals

think of the light at the end of the tunnel etc

What I think my problem is my Uni isn't a HUGE campus. Its part of a bigger Uni but situated somewhere else. A better location in the city centre but juts smaller. Ive made friends here and that, Thats not the problem its just everything is boring.

It doesnt have its own gym, Unless I want to get a train to the main campus 30mins away. We get a discount at the Marriot though which is in eye distance from my room. Going to join there next week.

My halls isn't really a community either its just a 25 story building. It feels like a prison. Every room is the exact same design, So monotonous.

As for the negativity. I never show it in person. I might do subconsciously but nah don't think I do. A lot of my mates back home are negative always and I can recognise this, I distanced myself form these people.

I used to ride BMX, Think I'll take it up again. I also DJ but dont play out that often, Need to record a mix and send to some people around here, only time I get to play is when Im back home and its nights that my friends are putting on.
