Avi to DVD convert and burn

Alright people, I used to have one program that used to do this quite well but i lost it when i had to wipe my laptop a while back but i need to burn some new dvds so can anyone reccomend a good program that will convert the avi to the correct format then burn it to dvd once converting?

A simple but effective program is all i need tbh..

Only ever used this, set it up the first time you install it and then every time all you gotta do is drop the .avi, insert blank DVD and burn.

Tried using that when burning a Tv series, it encoded all the AVIs to fit into 1 DVD so the quality was horrendous. Had a go to fix the settings but there was no option to fix it.
