The noises coming from the Argentine's camp in the past week has been that Higuain is at advanced stages over a £22m deal.

It has also been widely reported that Higuain has been offered a weekly salary of around £130,000 which would make him one of the top earners at the club alongside Thomas Vermaelen and Theo Walcott.

Higuain has also been tipped by Ossie Ardiles to emulate Robin van Persie should he complete his switch to the Emirates.

But according to football website Goal.com, a deal hangs in the balance as Real Madrid are holding out for £25.5m for the 25-year-old, while Arsenal are reticent to pay more than £21m.

They suggest that Arsene Wenger, who has already brought in Yaya Sanogo on a free, is drawing up a contingency plan should the higuain deal fall through.

Arsenal also have a concrete interest in Wayne Rooney, who is having talks with David Moyes over his Manchester United future.

lol @ goal.com

anyway this was from his dad a short while ago

Gonzalo Higuain’s father and agent, Jorge Higuain, has confirmed to Madrid-based newspaper Marca, that Real Madrid have agreed a fee with Arsenal and give him permission to seal the deal.

“We have permission to negotiate and I hope that soon I can complete my child’s move to the Premier League,” he said.

Arsenal fans have been in panic, as the Argentine striker’s move to the Emirates seemed to be taking a long time, especially with Manchester City and Chelsea looking to bring in forwards.

Arsene Wenger has already landed French youngster Yaya Sanogo, but is looking to bring in big names this summer, with Marouane Fellaini, Wayne Rooney and Julio Cesar all linked to the Gunners.

could still happen.

the media are running stories miles ahead of whats actually happening. which is making things seem long

I heard about Joel Campbell but didnt know about Wellington...

So Miyachi, Joel Campbell, Wellington Silva, Sanogo all to make a push for the squad this season....if not atleast get PL loan experience.

miyachi is going feyenoord on loan again I heard.

Silly as Wenger stopped him going back there before Bolton & Wigan as they wanted him to be UK homegrown qualified.

LUIS SUAREZ was last night linked with a sensational move to Arsenal.

Bookies stopped taking bets on the £25million-rated Liverpool striker quitting Anfield for the Emirates.

The controversial hitman had been strongly tipped to join Real Madrid.

And it was a series of massive bets in Spain — with the Gunners as his destination — which forced William Hill to close their market.

Spokesman Rupert Adams said: “It would suggest they have heard something substantial.”

LOL.
