Steve McClaren's agent has confirmed that he will make a decision on his future this weekend, amid reports Wolfsburg have firmed up their interest in him.

McClaren has just led Twente to the Dutch title and a host of clubs are now tracking him.

Former German champions Wolfsburg are understood to be keen on securing his services, and sources claim that he has met with Bundesliga club.

However, another German side Hamburg are known to also be keen - whilst it is believed the likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham and Celtic are keeping abreast of the former England coach's situation.

McClaren's agent Colin Gordon has now been quoted by the Dutch media, suggesting a decision on his future will be made over the weekend.

"There are many interested clubs," Gordon told De Telegraaf.

"He will use this weekend to think about his future.

"He is home in England with his wife and sons, and they will be involved in any situations he makes."

He is a self-important bacon face. Why is he leaving Twente? Is it because they cant keep hold of their best players? No because Misimovic,Dzeko and co will leave this summer. Is it because of a lack of progression? No because they are about to extend their stadium capacity. Is it because he hasn't settled down? No his family is nicely settled. Is it because he feels undervalued? No he is everyones favourite manager in Holland.

He must think he is Bobby Robson. Hope he fails at Wolfsburg which he will do anyways with out me wishing him misfortune.

They only signed him start of this season, so theres no way he's leaving on a bosman. Saying that I've been out of the loop for time.

Someone needs to snap him up though, he is too godlike.

Steve McClaren signed a two-year deal with Wolfsburg last night as he became the first English manager to take a job at a leading club in the Bundesliga.

The former England manager decided to move on from Twente, bowing out at the top after guiding the Dutch club to their first title since 1926.

McClaren had offers from around Europe but opted for Wolfsburg, where the ownership and backing of the Volkswagen group gives the club huge potential. Under Felix Magath, they won their first German championship in 2008 before slipping back to eighth place this season, 20 points behind Bayern Munich.

While McClaren gives up a place in the Champions League with Twente, Wolfsburg have promised to back him as they try to climb back up the table.

The town of Wolfsburg was constructed in the late 1930s to house car-factory workers, and the 2008 title was an unlikely fairytale. McClaren will be hugely popular in the 30,000 VW Arena if he can guide his team back towards the top three.

The squad boasts considerable talent including Edin Dzeko, the highly rated Bosnia-Herzegovina striker and the leading scorer in the league. He is being pursued by many of Europe’s biggest clubs but has a buyout clause believed to be about £34 million.

Josué and Grafite, the Brazil midfield player and forward respectively, also feature in the Wolfsburg squad, along with Obafemi Martins, although Fulham beat them this season in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. McClaren was also tempted by Hamburg, a bigger club in Germany than Wolfsburg although also notoriously trigger-happy when it comes to managers, and clubs in Portugal and Turkey.

At Wolfsburg, McClaren, 49, will work with Dieter Hoeness, the former Germany striker, who is managing director. After his triumph in the Netherlands, he will hope that success in Germany continues to restore his reputation after his time with England and paves the way, ultimately, for him to return to the Premier League.
