Channel Four launches a new kind of documentary series called Seven Days on Wednesday night, which they claim alters the conventions of reality TV.

The docu-soap is set in west London’s trendy Notting Hill and follows the day-to-day lives of people living or working there.

The serial will capture the events and thoughts of the participants as they happen - each episode will be broadcast in the same week that it's filmed.

The fast-turnaround nature means that the characters will be living through and talking about the same things as the viewers at home.

Instead of confining participants in the jungle or a purpose-built house, the docu-soap takes place in homes and offices.

As well as this, the public are encouraged to interact with the participants via the accompanying Seven Days ChatNav website. Here, fans of the show will be able to give the stars 'advice', and in doing so, will influence their behaviour.

The website states: "Welcome to a new reality."

The show will feature an unemployed musician and rapper, an interior designer, an estate agent, a florist, a hairdresser trying to stop his business from going under, a mother-of-three and chef Aldo Zilli's daughter Laura (pictured).
