i cant fully agree with thisAt the worst case scenario the Phailstation 3 could have gone the way of the PSP and die due to piracy. Sony got burned badly once by piracy, they didn't want it to happen again. Also, the money gaming industry wise isn't as free flowing as people seem to think.obviously its not ideal because psn got hacked to f*ck but how much of it is due to Sonys own fault for not encrypting info etc.

Sony cant even do much more than their doing now tbh.They thought they were unhackable so they never upgraded their security (which werent great in the first place). Then when they realised people were using the "other OS" function for homebrew they took it away. Remember this was a key feature, not saying everyone used it but alot of people did. So now other OS is removed people started looking for other ways to get homebrew on ps3. Then people worked out the signing key and jailbreaks came out and it went downhill from there. This is why its down for so long, the PSN is massive and they have to redo all the security. Image they put it up and it got hacked/intruded again and they have to take it down, would be mad. So now Sony is trying to go after the hackers, and because if this other hackers going to try take down psn.Imagine if this was october/november when stuff like fifa/pro/mw3/bf3 comes out..

According to an CNET tipster, talk in the IRC channel suggested Sony’s website will be the target and that whatever data is retrieved will be made available publicly. An observer of the Internet Relay Chat channel used by the hac*ers told CNET today that a third major attack is planned this weekend against Sony’s Web site.With fears already high that PSN users’ personal details, along with credit cards, are being sold by hackers, this could be another huge publicity problem for Sony. PSN, the original target, is still not back online as yet.
