Wise words from a decent man

back when i was tryna put a ring on Alicia's hand

/

1st - God didn't write the psalms, and the first quote was ironik ( ie - they attack jerusalem, throw children into walls and are somehow praised [ by the people, not God ] )

2nd - A lot of religions teach a woman's role in this sense. who said this woman's rights thing was a Christian proposal? women are to be wives and serve their husbands.

3rd - wrong. if he beats with permission, he pays the father 50, marries her, or gets stoned to death for taking a virginity and not marrying. if he rapes her he gets stoned to death

4th - Old Testament ruling, only still followed by Judaism - during this time of the bible, there was a clear distinction between God's people, and those who weren't God's people, not like post-Jesus times when anyone could be saved

5th - he's saying don't do God's work carelessly, then says if You're fighting God's war, don't hold back

6th - retaliation to blasphemy. can't see how it's condoned, but again, Old Testament,

7th - he doesn't free her because he has the right to choose her as a wife for his son

8th - aren't punishments always described in this way? God's wrath!

9th - as 6th.

Psalm 137:9

Not even God speaking here.

The psalmist is in captive and wants revenge. Where in psalm 137 does God approve of this.

Deutronemy 22:28

The whole thing:

28(Q) "If a man meets a virgin who is not betrothed, and seizes her and lies with her, and they are found, 29then the man who lay with her shall give to the father of the young woman fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has violated her. He may not divorce her all his days.

1 Timothy 2:12

Women have God given roles, just as men do.

"12(U) I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. 13(V) For Adam was formed first,(W) then Eve; 14and Adam was not deceived, but(X) the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. 15Yet she will be saved through(Y) childbearing—if they continue in(Z) faith and love and holiness, with self-control."

note:

Galatians 3:26-29

26for in Christ Jesus(A) you are all sons of God, through faith. 27For as many of you as(B) were baptized© into Christ have(D) put on Christ. 28(E) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave[a] nor free,(F) there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And(G) if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring,(H) heirs according to promise.

Leviticus 25:44

Slaves were permitted by God but there were rules in place to stop the mistreatment of slaves.

Ezekiel 9:5

Read Chapter 8

Exodus 21:7

Exodus 21:7-11

7"When a man(E) sells his daughter as a slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do. 8If she does not please her master, who has designated her[a] for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has broken faith with her. 9If he designates her for his son, he shall deal with her as with a daughter. 10If he takes another wife to himself, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, or(F) her marital rights. 11And if he does not do these three things for her, she shall go out for nothing, without payment of money.

Ezekiel 21:32

Read the whole thing.

It's a prophecy about the destruction of the nation of Israel at the hands of the Babylonians. That particular verse is about the Ammonites who were attempting to go into Jerusalem after.

Numbers 25:4

Part of Gods judgement for blasphemy.

Numbers 25:1-5

1While Israel lived in(A) Shittim,(B) the people began to whore with the daughters of Moab. 2© These invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. 3So Israel yoked himself to Baal of Peor. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. 4And the LORD said to Moses,(D) "Take all the chiefs of the people and(E) hang[a] them in the sun before the LORD,(F) that the fierce anger of the LORD may turn away from Israel." 5And Moses said to(G) the judges of Israel,(H) "Each of you kill those of his men who have yoked themselves to Baal of Peor."
