HOW CAN I MAKE MY LAPTOP FASTER

JOHN DOE

Recommended Posts

Start menu > Accessories > System Tools

Use the Disk Defragmenter and Disk Cleanup software (overnight is better since it slows down your computer massively)

Uninstall any software that you don't use and close anything that boots at startup (or disable them from loading at startup in the first place using services.msc)

If you're not on it already , I suggest doing a clean install of XP aswell, and moving all your valuable files to an external HDD

Start > Run > type msconfig >Startup tab

Untick all the sh*t you don't need to be running when you start up windows. Close it, then restart windows.

It's slow because there is crap running in the background that's wasting resources. e.g auto updaters for adobe, java... stuff like quick time, adobe acrobat, itunes etc etc

Buy the maximum available ram for your laptop

install a SSD drive

remove heatsink from cpu and re-apply with arctic thermal paste (add thermal pads to ram)

thats as far as your gonna get in terms of hardware.

Software wise just remove and stop all services not in use, defrag, clean registry and perform a scan disk for any cluster errors
