So I caught up on QI properly last night and Stephen Fry was talking about some things which made me think.

He asked

"Where are 1% of American adults?"

The answer was jail.

America has imprisoned more of it's citizens than any society in history.

1 in 13 men between 20-34 are in jail.

for Black males it's 1 in 9.

There more 17 year old black people in jail than in college.

It reminded me of what Flojo and Ulysses were saying about America, all in all America is 1 big fail.

We have similar issues though, just because America is worse it doesn't detract from how overly punitive our country is.

Some of our prisons are 189% of capacity.
