Introducing offisides for throw ins

The Gunners boss was recently holed up in Switzerland with fellow tacticians Sir Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola, and Andre Villas-Boas to discuss potential new developments in football.

And Wenger, whose side have repeatedly been stung by mighty lobs from the likes of Rory Delap, proposed the possibility of introducing a new rule that would make players offside from throw-ins.

Ajax coach Frank De Boer revealed the Frenchman’s controversial suggestion, saying: ‘Arsene wondered if we could get rid of the “no offside from a throw” rule.

De Boer claims the Gunners boss said: ‘They can be very direct, and there is a growing trend for teams just to throw the ball to the far post. We’re supposed to be playing football not handball.’

Wenger is also believed to have asked for clarification of the legitimacy of using towels for throw-in – another much maligned tactic favoured by the Potters.

The throw ins aren't the issue with Stoke, it's the favourable refereeing they get. They've played the 'poor little Stoke using what we can get match the big boys' card for so long, and there's so much media attention around Delap, referees tend to be extremely lenient when it comes to the amount of fouls Jones/Shawcross/Huth are committing in the box.

Saw the thread title and thought 'Wenger would love this' come in and see who suggested the idea

Would be such a dumb idea anyway. Clearly not thought through. Imagine you have a throw JUST inside the opposition half...the oppo then push right up in line with the thrower, and your left with the only options of throwing backwards, or tryna have man time their runs with your throw ins....would come like some shitty line out in rugby.

No offence bro but the law is strict on where you take the throw (refs instructed to make sure its within 1m of where the ball left the play) and even iff you took it in your own half, teams obviously wouldn't push up past the halfway line...

Have you ever played footy for a team? As in 11 a side (No send)

watch a game of football carefully and watch for any attention on how far the throw ins are taken from where the ball went out.

also watch how quickly the throw ins are taken and tell me there would be time for the whole defence to push up and form such a trap

and like i said, such an offside trap would be caught out and leave a 1 on 1.

 cant be serious, this plan would get punished in the most disgusting way

in that situation the ways to get into a one on one situation arent exactly hard to work out are they

Wenger is pathetic, anything that hurts his team he's crying about it rather than finding a solution within his own team
