Wenger, Did The Opposition Just Catch Up?

Just going to throw this out there fuck the Arsenal Room this is a general footy question

Is Wengers real problem that he was ahead of his time previously but not anymore,

e.g when he came in he had the links to obscure players for cheap in France and other countries Arsenal used to scout very well but nowadays every other club has a deep scouting network even clubs like Wigan and Newcastle not to mention clubs outside of the league who don't have to worry about permits.

10 years ago you would be shocked Arsenal would miss out on taking Pogba or a Tarrabt from France to England now shit is like meh.

He was ahead on stuff like nutrition and monitoring players stats etc now that shit is industry standard

The guy don't seem all that great tactics wise he just plays the same old shit and never really deviates from it

clearly cannot coach defense, nothing wrong with that but call some one in who can do it for you surely (thats what most managers do including SAF!)

Anyone agree disagree whatever

Wenger let too many key players go

He had an enigma against players over 30 yet Manchester United and Italians have proved you can still be succesfull with them.

I truely believe the Anelka deal got to his head and he thought that it was a winning process which he's still to this day, embedding into the Arsenal infastructure.

When you look at Harry Redknapp rejected £40,000,000 for Modric and rebuilding his side you have to seriously doubt the credentials of Arsenal to stay above us this season, you could say that they will struggle to get in the top half.

When you look at Arsenals defence;

You have a German defender that lacks the war type mentality which is bred and installed in German defenders

You have a Brazilian left back who is the most unmobile Brazilian athelete to come out of a country that makes humans more agile in places than any other country.

You have a French centre back whose been brought up in an era of great positional, atheletic, mentality strong, technically gifted French centrebacks yet he looks something more cut from the League 2 cloth than one ready to grace a european stage.

You have a Russian winger brought up in a country of acrobats and has a distinct lack of mobility despite his technical quality.

You have a Cameroonian holding midfielder that can't hold in an era where he's country has made the foundations of the holding midfielder and created some of the best.

You have an English winger in Walcott, a country that has produced some of the most technically gifted wide men in terms of control, dribbling and passing yet he's proved that if Football was all about running he'd be competing in this years Olympics and England is short of a few 100m runners.

That's just a few of your frailties.

Why are you a mid table team and why do your fans refuse to believe anything otherwise?

Well, I am here to tell you straight and simple.

Dark patches and bad runs of form don't last 6 years, the greatest teams are built on defensive stability and attacking fluidity yet Arsenal seem to be built on quicksand at the back and sticky mud up front - there used to be games in the Premier League that Arsenal would be designated 3 points before Kick Off but it's all crumbled in a heap of misery and dispear.

Arsenal may be in Europe for 14 consecutive season and may have got into the top 4 for a while now but the last time I checked big teams with elite history and stoute auoroa around the club made there names based on winning trophies and the last time Arsenal looked like winning a trophy let alone putting a string of wins together was when Bergkamp wore the red and white.

The Arsenal fans think they are a big club, they've sub conciously programmed this thought in their mind from their last trophy winning days but they are so stubborn they refused to believe the league has caught up on them, for years now their fans have taken the "factory moulds" of previous winning teams and put them on the current squad in believing they are the equivilant in terms of talent and ability and expect them to perform the same and if they did or if they were then Arsenal may have been still a Top club in England but you're not.

The manager may be a hero but he's left the club in the duldrums and there is no coming back for Arsenal, from a loss to Birmingham in the Carling Cup last year to Blackburn away at Saturday nothings changed yet your mind set going into games is always "we should win this" there is no longer any talented individuals in your team that can stand out from teh crowd, there is no individual quality that seperates the creams from the colours which makes elite sides.

Would also like to mention when was the last time an elite player said they wanted to join Arsenal? you're nothing more than a breeding ground and I'm sure you couldn't even attract some of the top players in Europe even if you had the backing of an elite arab.

Sorry, it's a sad sight to see but you're all so deluded you're not even worried because it's ok "We're a top club" "in Arsene we trust" but I've yet to see you put together a display of football excellence in a fornight let alone a month, forget a season!

Three weeks down the line and there is massive chance Arsenal may not even have 4 points to their name but its ok you're a big club, you're used to Henry, Bergkamp, Cesc digging you out of trouble with individual qualities! but do you know what!? you haven't got them players any more but your expectation remains the same, just one more for me to sya

You're in for a mighty bump, those clouds you been living on have had enough.

wengers been at the club too long, its like in a long relationship that got lazy and stale. hes lost the ability to pick decent players but is stubborn and wants to stick to the guys hes chosen to prove hes a genius meanwhile the guys he chose are any guys who dont even believe in themselves thats why there confused and have no heart. when wenger came in he added a bit of flair to george grahams solid team. now it is all flair and no solid. wenger is any casual mug who thinks hes running an orphanage

It's no surprise that the last trophey your club won was scored by one of the last elements of the backbone Wenger inherited, (Viera)

He's failed to create a Defence worthy of the name longevity and constancy since the old guard left.

Also after you guys went unbeaten it was almost like he was upset by the football you displayed in that season, and so since then it's been a different brand of football. This has hamstrung you abit coz it's almost like there's s real snobbery with signing certain players now.

Losing big characters/names in the dressing room and replacing them with kids still learning the game is odd.

The Pat Rice position maybe needs freshening up a bit.

There's not a hell of a lot really wrong with Arsenal, an as a few people on this forum in the past have said, the future is looking a lot brighter for you's than it is for a lot of other clubs,
