January Transfer Window

User
Robbie Keane is to train with former club Tottenham Hotspur amid reports Aston Villa have discussed the possibility of signing the striker on a short-term loan deal from Los Angeles Galaxy.

Keane left the Premier League to join Galaxy from Tottenham in August and has now attracted interest from Villa.

The 31-year-old was previously wanted by Villa as a teenager, but the club were unable to agree a fee with Wolves and he eventually joined Coventry City.

Villa boss Alex McLeish, meanwhile, tried to sign the Republic of Ireland international for Birmingham City in the last January transfer window.

Birmingham had agreed a £6million fee with Spurs for Keane, but the club were unable to settle on personal terms and he subsequently moved to West Ham United on loan.

McLeish is now reportedly making a fresh move to work with Keane, although it is understood that terms have yet to be agreed with either the player or Galaxy.

If Villa are able to finalise a two-month loan for Keane, he would team up with his Ireland team-mates Shay Given and Richard Dunne in the Midlands.

It is believed Keane wants to stay sharp for the Euro 2012 finals by continuing to play before the Major Soccer League season begins in March.

In the meantime, Keane will train with Spurs until 20th January to build up his fitness ahead of the new MLS campaign.

Keane's Galaxy team-mate Landon Donovan has already returned to the Premier League on a similar deal with Everton, while Arsenal are close to bringing Thierry Henry back to the club.

It's been doing the rounds on a few of the Liverpool forums we're interested but I don't think it will happen, i reckon he'd score a sh*t load of goals for us if he did come though.

yeah he'd score for fun

The agent of AC Milan left-back Taye Taiwo admits a move to Arsenal for his player looks unlikely at this stage.

sh*t defender tbh

so is coquelin

f*ck*ng idiot. Coquellin has been MOTM or close everytime he's played this season. Also he is a CM by trade. Either way i'd rather him or Miquel play than TaiWOEFUL

Our full strength defence is yet to play so how would you know? I only rate City, United as better defences than ours as we've been good defensively since the OT hammering.

This is going off topic

Koscielny is underrated, he's settled in well

Mertesacker needs a season to adjust, but will always be painfully slow on the turn

Sagna is very reliable

Santos is a wingback

Szcezeny is awesome

Midfield dynamic needs sorting out asap, reliable understudies/players capable of really pushing for first team places need bringing in.
