The NAS thing?

And rookie q, but if I copy everything over from my laptop, for example with iTunes would I have to rescan every song into the library and lose all play counts and ratings or would it just go over the other incumbent files?

Nah you can export your itunes library from the file menu.

On mac i could just move my whole library to another drive then relocate one track and it will find the rest of the library auto, not sure if that will work on pc but it should

It needs to be formatted

FAT32 to work on both

Macintosh OS Extended to work on just mac

NTFS to work on just Windows

This

but format it for mac, then set up a FAT32 partition so you can use it to transfer between systems (the only setback is that FAT32 does not support files over 4gb)

Pretty much plug n play tbh...though you need to forget about doing anything with it for the first day while it creates the volume etc

Yours has 2x3GB right? you going to have that as one 6GB volume or you going to mirror the disks for redundancy?

You man got your bit torrent clients set up on your NAS?

there is a synology app that does "Download station" you can set it to monitor a folder n you literally just drag/drop the .torrent files in there and it takes care of the rest. You can set up a default seeding duration/data % for then the downloads complete etc...

The amount of apps available put Synologys above the rest tbh...go to the App Store/Play Store n just feast upon the gloriousness

Holla if you need pointers.

Not sure of your requirements tbh @ local
