Hutchings named as new Wigan boss

Chris Hutchings has been named Paul Jewell's successor at Wigan Athletic.The Latics were on the lookout for a new man at the helm following Paul Jewell's shock resignation.However, their brief search is over after Jewell's assistant accepted Wigan chairman Dave Whelan's offer to take control of the side.Hutchings has experience of managing in the Premiership after succeeding Jewell at Bradford back in 2000.His Premiership record is not that impressive having won just one of the 12 outing during his brief tenure."We've asked Chris Hutchings if he'd take the job and he's agreed," Whelan told Sky Sports News."Chris is a very, very capable manager. He's got my full support."Whelan has promised to back Hutchings in the transfer market adding: "I will support him with funds to buy players."
