VDV said Vertoe likely to end up at Spurs

Makes sense

Would get a starting place there

Guess it all depends on CL places

Vermaelen is making sure he'll get a starting place for us too. I'm almost convinced he on some secret agent shit to make Wenger realise he has to take the opportunity while its there.

Cos Vermaelen is very quickly annoying me, along with Szczesny on days like Saturday.

Hes 21 though, im sure I remember you telling people to jam when guys were over over hyping him. I know it was basic mistakes, and hes gassed but still. He knows hes the best keeper atm no1 can take his place. We need good backup to put pressure on him. Same goes for Song, Vermaelen etc

€22m euros

It's a done deal

Now all you need is a RB/LB/2nd keeper/Top class winger/RVP to stay and most importantly a new medical team

Arsenal will win trophies again if that happens

Link or it didn't happen.

Can you read in French ?

What's your source fam, nothing on L'Equipe you know...

If you believe the information in the newspaper Le Parisien, the transfer of Yann M'Vila have already found a way out, two weeks before the end of the championship.

The English club Arsenal, which has already been the forcing the latter to obtain - in vain - his signature, would come to an agreement with Stade Rennes and midfielder. Le Parisien advance an agreement had been found for a transfer fee of € 22 million, including bonuses. The player himself, would be committed for Arsenal for a period of four years.

However, the transfer would remain suspended in seeing Arsenal qualify for Champions League. Third at a point ahead of Tottenham, the "Gunners" need a win Sunday against West Bromwich Albion to confirm their place in C1.

Very busy yesterday working on M'vila story. Deal 99% done. 22 million euros, 4 years. Great signing for Arsenal and player is delighted

A the moment deal is done with Arsenal finishing 3rd, could slightly change if not but he will still sign. He chose Arsenal over Inter Milan

I believe he will be perfect signing for Arsenal. Norwich game showed how team was too exposed at the back. He will be proper holding mid

You can read the full story in @le_Parisien_fr and great work from @ChBerard on it too

Arsenal close in on £17.7 million deal for France midfielder Yann M’Vila

Arsenal are close to making another major statement of intent for next season by sealing a club record €22 million (£17.7m) deal for France midfielder Yann M’Vila.

Having confirmed the £11m signing of Lukas Podolski last week, Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with Rennes for their 21-year-old holding midfielder.

There had also been interest in M’Vila from Inter Milan, but the expectation in France is that he will now sign for Arsenal after being convinced by Wenger’s vision for the club.

It is unlikely, however, that any deal will be finalised before the end of the season, placing even more importance on beating West Bromwich Albion on Sunday and so clinching third place and Champions League football for a 16th consecutive season.

As revealed by the Telegraph Sport in March, reinforcing the holding midfield position is a priority this summer for Wenger and M’Vila has always been the preferred target. Indeed, Arsenal also made an enquiry last summer but were told that M’Vila was not for sale.

That situation has since changed, with Rennes resigned to selling their star player this summer.

While the form of Alex Song has delighted Wenger, there is also an appreciation that Arsenal do lack experienced cover in this position.

As well as M’Vila, Atheltic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez has been scouted.

Although Arsenal have no shortage of emerging central midfielders, the concern is that Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Abou Diaby are all players who also like to push forward.

Song’s defensive qualities have made him a regular over the past four seasons – and he is likely to be offered a significantly improved contract later this year – but there has been a lack of obvious cover.

Emmanuel Frimpong and Francis Coquelin are both highly promising but largely still unproven at the very highest level. The addition of a player like M’Vila would also give Wenger the option of sometimes playing with two holding midfielders.

Wenger is keen to get his transfer business concluded swiftly this summer and so avoid a repeat of last year when he lost both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri after the Premier League season had already started.

There is also the hope that the arrival of major signings like Podolski and M’Vila will have a positive knock-on effect for the forthcoming contract negotiations with Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott. Arsenal’s current transfer record is the £15 million that was spent on Andrei Arshavin.
