Illmatic wins bro

5* Tracks

Ny State of Mind

Life's a Bitch

The World Is Yours

Halftime

Memory Lane

One Love

Represent

It Aint Hard To Tell

3-4* tracks

One Time 4 Ya Mind

Reasonable Doubt

5 * Tracks

Can't Knock the Hustle

Polotics as Usual

Feelin It

Brooklens Finest

Dead Pres II

De'Evils

22 Two's

Can I Live

Bring It On

Regrets

Those are all top quality tracks, easily on par with anything on Illmatic, however Reasonable doubt was let down big time by Aint No Nigga, which was much more typical of the later Jay-Z poppy/r&b tracks

Friend or Foe & Cashmere Thoughts weren't up to the level of the above either, though they weren't bad tracks

So they have about the same number of quality tracks, but RD has actual (non intro) tracks that I'll be happy to skip

As for the overall argument, they both since their first album have had a few albums with a whole f*ck*ng lot of filler

Streets Disciple for instance instead of being 1 decent double disc album, could have been shortened to a very good album with about 10 tracks

Nas had some awful albums after It was Written tbh

Illmatic

It was Written

Stillmatic

Gods Son

are his real quality albums, along with Lost Tapes

Everything else would have one good track, followed pseudo-mafioso righteous blackman who idolises racist Italian mobster rubbish track, followed by introspective track, followed by good track, followed by boring track...

Even albums like Gods Son, if you take away the awesome 'Get Down', you are left with a good, but not great album

Take away any one track from Illmatic and you still have a classic

The same goes for RD

Not sure I even want to get into some of the stuff Jay Z has put out

They are about the same though I think Nas wins

A lot of their stuff that I liked at the time, Streets Disciple, Hip Hop is dead...I can't really listen to now, HHID is the best out of Nas recent albums though
