This honeypot shit in the news has detracted from whats really happening

The Prime Minister is pledging to ‘turn the dial back’ on the creeping sexualisation and commercialisation of childhood with new restrictions on explicit music videos, violent computer games and internet porn.

He said the Government was determined to help parents ensure that ‘children have a childhood’.

A new system of clearer age classification and labelling for video games will be introduced in July, advertising near schools is to be limited, and ministers are to consult on making internet users choose to ‘opt in’ to explicit websites.

The tough new measures will be included in the Families Bill - seen as the centre piece of the Queen's Speech intended to win back support from voters.

The Government will announce that it is pressing ahead with many of the recommendations in a report for Mr Cameron by Reg Bailey, chief executive of the Mothers’ Union.

His review concluded that Britain is increasingly a society full of sexualised imagery, where families do not feel in control.

Mr Cameron said in an interview with the Daily Mail: ‘Parents want to have their children properly protected. They want children to have a childhood, they want to treat children like children. I feel that as a parent.

‘Reg Bailey has done good work right across the board, whether it’s videos, video games, music videos, street adverts, just trying to turn the dial back a bit on over-sexualisation and allowing children to behave like children.’

On internet porn, Mr Cameron said he wanted ‘whatever works’ to protect children. ‘The experts have been telling us that prompting parents is the best way to get a result, because active choices make people think.

‘But if there’s a chance of having devices that come with a filter on, then I think that’s worth consulting on too. It may be the very best is a combination.’

19 new laws but i think thats the one people on here care about most

That opt in nonsense will never work. But Cameron needs the desperate support of the Daily Mail and Mother Union crowd even more after that whopping in the local elections. There is a transcript of the politicians on the committee who were discussing the opt in idea and they are shamefully clueless.

These parents need to take control of what their kids are doing, first step for me would be no computers or laptops in their bedrooms.

I suspect Cameron will quietly drop this or water it down. Having dads across the country have to opt in so they can look at adult images? A vote loser.

  • 1 year later...

Dont really care about any of this opt in shit, I pay my own bills so aint got a problem calling my ISP and telling them to turn the porn on.

Kids probably do need to be protected from certain content anyway, tbh if they want to seek it out theyll always find it, but these days leaving a young child on the net with no content lock can be so risky
