The top flight official who oversaw 38 games last season in all competitions has not passed his end-of-season physical and will face another to determine his future

Premier League referee Phil Dowd has failed a fitness test which would allow him to continue as an official next season, according to the Daily Mail.

Dowd officiated the FA Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool at Wembley just three weeks ago, and has been a top level referee for 12 years after three years in the Football League.

But Dowd must regain his fitness if he is to continue working in the Premier League after failing his end-of-season physical.

The 49-year-old oversaw 38 games in all competitions last season, the fourth highest of any elite referees, and will now go on holiday before taking further tests when he returns.

Dowd showed 137 yellow cards last term and sent off five players.

Hope this wanker fails again, such strong dislike for Phil Dowd.
