The Festival thread

TOWIE star Jess Wright has been blasted by anti-drugs campaigners after posing with a balloon filled with deadly “hippy crack”.

Jess posted a snap of herself and grinning pals putting balloons to their lips at a music festival for her 992,000 Twitter followers.
Hippy crack, or nitrous oxide gas, is hugely popular among festival-goers.
But although the substance — commonly known as laughing gas — is legal, it can cause brain damage and even a single hit can be lethal in some circumstances.
Drug charities said the message reality star Jess, 27, was sending out was “worrying”.
Stephen Ream, director of Re-Solv, said: “Misuse of nitrous oxide has resulted in a number of deaths in the UK, and it should not be seen as harmless fun.
“It is responsible for 16 deaths in the UK between 2006 and 2009, and 52 since 1971.

“It is very disappointing to see Jess Wright promoting such a dangerous activity to her young Twitter followers.”
The pictures. which include Jess’s TOWIE co-star and on-off boyfriend Ricky Rayment. were taken at the High Definition music festival in Ilford, Essex, ten days ago.
Under the first snap Jess wrote: “Balloons at HD fest! X.”
One of her followers, Rob Allen, replied: “buzzing much? Haha.”
Nitrous oxide is still used medically as an anaesthetic. Thousands use it as recreational drug “balloons” or “gas”, even though it is illegal to sell it.
Prince Harry and Corrie star Michelle Keegan both hit the headlines after reportedly taking the substance.
Users feel an intense high, said to be similar to crack cocaine, and can also have hallucinations.
But it can be deadly because it starves the body of oxygen.
Last September, student Joseph Benett, 17, from Hampstead, North London, fell into a coma and died after inhaling the drug on holiday with friends.
A spokesperson for Jess declined to comment.
