Let's not be so quick to assume you'll be caught or reprimanded, the amount dispensed and amount requested are logged on two totally different systems, especially if it was a link cash machine and you don't bank with the house of that specific machine. Heard about this happening on several occasions never once heard of any untoward repercussions to be fair. Lol @ people thinking you'll need a lawyer.

This happened recently and the bank let them keep the money

This is an older story from May. I read an article on the dailymail within the last 2 weeks about this

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2146747/Free-money-Customers-cash-ATM-pays-double-bank-says-windfall.html

But HSBC said they would not be asking any customers to return the money as the mistake was theirs.

A spokesman for the bank said it was not the customers' fault.

He said: 'The machine was mis-dispensing and we won't be requesting the funds back. It is certainly not the liability of the customers.'

Meanwhile, one villager, who asked not to be named, said: 'Some people used five or six bank cards and got £300 free with each card.

Is it still happening?
