Laptop help

Turn my laptop on and the screen shows for 4 seconds then goes black.. It's still on and functioning but the screens just black .. If I close the laptop then reopen it couple minutes later the screen comes on for a couple seconds then goes black again. It was fine last night.

Any ideas what's wrong with it and how I can fix it?

ive no idea tbh but would probably start by testing it with an external display eg vga to an old pc monitor or hdmi to a tv etc

did u install windows 8

It might be the inverter board or the screen itself. Have u got a multimeter to test the board?

Once you have tested, if you can still see the data on the laptop screen but its just dark in that the LED's are not illuminated around the screen then it will be your backlight that's gone.
