Shuffling has been around since back in the day when Desmond's was on. That's why I find it funny hearing people today say it doesn't belong in the house scene, it should be banned etc.

It all started in Chicago’s Southside in 1977, when a new kind of club opened. This new Chicago club called The Warehouse gave House music its name. Frankie Knuckles, who opened The Warehouse, mixed old disco classics and new Eurobeat pop. It was at this legendary club where many of the experiments were tried. It was also where Acid House got its start.

Before The Warehouse opened, there had been clubs strictly designed to segregate race. However, The Warehouse did not make any difference between Blacks, Hispanics, or Whites; the main interest was simply music. And the music was as diverse as the clients.

It's funny how today people are trying to segregate a scene that got it's name years ago from a club that tried to stop segregation by providing a venue where people of all races could come together and enjoy house music.

Going to be a report on shape cutting on tonight's channel 4 news

As young clubbers cut shapes to the early house sound in London, Channel 4 News hears from a DJ making his mark on the music scene, Kezza Boyd, aka Mr Shapes.

I was born in 1972 and grew up in a household of different genres of music, but in 1985 I discovered acid house and I took up breakdancing as a hobby.

Like a lot people of my generation, I took the wrong path in life until I discovered house music. I had always been influenced by house but it wasn't until I was much older that it became a major part of my life.

House music allowed me to express myself and be confident enough to show others that I had lost weight.I now was healthier and I feeling good about myself. I now see a clearer positive path just through the music and I feel I have something positive to pass on to those younger or older than me interested in what I do.

I've experienced the jungle and funky house scene but in 2012 I went deep into house or full house.

Today the music is more electrifying and a lot of more inspiring for me now than it was when I was a teenager. The feeling I get from house music is unexplainable but positive because of the people I've met and the changes I've made to my life.

Raving is a good healthy release to a stressful week the music has the power to bring people together that appreciate the same sound.

It's an international sound followed by millions, new and old.

House music has a stigma attached to it, but I love it for the sound and the way it motivates people. I like to show its positive side through my music and dance.

I am Mr Shapes founder of SCI.
