A couple weeks/months ago (on here i think) there was a story of a missing black girl, somebody said the media would be all over it if it was a white girl, the realisation is most stories don't make it's way to being headline news. This probably happens a few times a week in some places, the people involved need to make it news worthy. I.E going on about it to the correct people and making overblown and maybe even threatening statements promising revenge.
