Well, this is potentially pretty huge: Microsoft has announced it will be supporting cross-platform multiplayer in future, meaning Xbox One players will be able to compete against PC, PS4 and Wii U players online.

 

There's a bunch of other things in the GDC update over on the Xbox news page, but easily the biggest news of all is this cross-platform multiplayer deal. It's, like, the holy grail of multiplayer, isn't it?

they crumbled with Rocket League as PS4 & PC can play together...but I cant see for example Fifa/COD/BF n the like being available

I imagine Sony would have to agree to this before getting exciting about Microsoft doing it. Would be great to be able to play with everyone no matter what console they choose though.

Basically like being able to call/message a friend who has an iPhone while you have a Samsung phone.

Shouldn't have to hold a general meeting with all your friends to decide which to buy, people should choose what suits them.

Much much cheaper than oculu rift or HTC give which both need very powerful PCs with powerful graphics cards

Theyd be stupid to not make a bundle as well

But it all depends on the content, I don't want a few AAA titles and generic shit at launch only to wait 6-9months for impressive content

HTC vive is 689 (plus £70 delivery if you are ordered)

Oculus rift is 499

Plus a high powered computer with a high powered graphics card

All you need here is a £250 PlayStation. Which will probably be £199 when this comes out.

Can easily see a £599 Xmas bundle, £549 next spring

They have PlayStation store so indie developers will prob get some fun stuff on there

PS4K Details Leaked

• The PS4K will cost between $399.99 and $499.99
• The cost will depend on what CPU Sony decide to use in the final design – 2 are currently in contention.
• The GPU in the PS4K is twice as powerful as the one that used in the PS4
• The PS4K will have a 4K Blu-Ray player
• It will upscale games to 4K resolution
• The PSVR lounge media app will get a substantial upgrade with the PS4K
• Developers already have PS4K dev kits and are developing games to utilise the extra power it will provide
• Games that are developed for PS4K will still work on a PS4 but will take a performance hit
• Current PS4 games could get performance upgrades to make the most of PS4K via a patch…
  • …But this will be “per game and per developer” and is only likely to happen for “a handful of games.”
• PSVR will be functional with PS4K and some games are already scheduled to make use of the extra GPU speed.
  • EVE: Valkyrie
  • Robinson’s: The Journey
  • Gran Turismo Sport
• The long in development Deep Down and God of War 4 (God of Four! Thanks Ross) will both use PS4K
