The PS3 is region free.

 

Certain games may lock you in terms of servers (i.e if you buy japanese version it will only let you play with japanese players) but I don't believe this was prevalent on PS3.

 

I think DLC is region locked, so if you have a EU copy you cant download the UK version of the DLC
