The majority of rockets fired in Syria by the UK, US, and France were intercepted by Syrian air defense systems, the Russian Defense Ministry said. Russian air defense units were not involved in repelling the attack.

The warplanes and vessels of the US and its allies launched over 100 cruise missiles and air-surface missiles on Syrian civil and military facilities, the ministry stated.

win for Trump, good news for the remnants of isis and a boost for the rebels

The US and France have denied Russian claim that Syrian air defence had intercepted at least 71 cruise missiles fired by the US, the UK and French forces early on Saturday.

"None of our aircraft or missiles involved in this operation were successfully engaged by Syrian air defences," Lieutenant-General Kenneth McKenzie, the director of the Joint Staff at the Pentagon, said at a press briefing on Saturday.

He said there were no known civilian casualties, but noted Syria had fired about 40 unguided surface-to-air missiles, most of which didn't launch until after the allied strike was over.

"When you shoot iron into the air without guidance, it's going to come down somewhere," McKenzie said.

Earlier, French officials said that they believed none of their missiles was intercepted.

Speaking at a news conference in Moscow on Saturday, Lieutenant-General Sergey Rudskoy had said that at least 103 cruise missiles, including Tomahawks, were fired into a number of targets in Syria.

"Russia has fully restored the air defence system of Syria, and it continues to improve it over the last six months," Rudskoy said.

The Russian defence ministry was quoted as saying that Syria deployed Russian-made surface-to-air missiles, including S-125, S-200, 2K12 Kub and Buk to repel the attacks.

Among those targeted by the US-led operation was the Al-Dumayr military airport outside of Damascus. Russia said all 12 missiles directed at the airport were intercepted.

In his statement, Rudskoy confirmed at least one US Navy warship in the Mediterranean and US B-1 bomber were involved in the operation, as well as UK Tornado fighters.

The US-led strikes on Saturday came after a suspected chemical weapons attack by the Syrian regime in the former rebel stronghold of Douma last week.

The United Kingdom's Royal Air Force said four Tornado GR4s fighters jets joined in the operation, while France said it has deployed Mirage and Rafale fighter jets.

French officials said its military had fired at least 12 missiles into Syria.

Earlier, the office of France's President Emanuel Macron said the country's air force fired missiles from its Mirage and Rafale fighter jets.

On Friday, the US Navy said it was moving additional Tomahawk missile-armed ship within striking distance of Syria.

Tomahawks can carry up to a 1,000-pound warhead at a range of 900 nautical miles (1,667km). It is guided by GPS "enabling highly accurate precision attack", according to a 2016 Pentagon report.

A statement from the British Ministry of Defence said it has deployed at least four Royal Air Force Tornado GR4s in the strike.

The RAF Tornado fighter jets took off from the British airbase in Akrotiri, Cyprus.

Difference is Iran ain't on piss, whilst israel walks the walk and  sends elite revolutionary guard battalions to jahanam using 10% of its air force

Why do people still think there is some sort of equity of capability in this conflict? Israel can do as it pleases, they only have to navigate Putin. Theyre just bombing anybody who sniffs in their direction now that they got the green light from abu ivanka

The only reason they haven't nuked hezbollah is because the radiation will  blow back into tel Aviv  and the young jew babies will be born with too many eyes and flippers instead of legs etc

Iran won't nuke Israel because they don't have the capability to do so. Israel can nuke Iran whenever they feel like it.

They can and do mow down Palestinian protesters as they please, could kill everyone in Gaza easily from the air if they so pleased. Hamas can't do either

Dumb yout

this isnt a d*ck measuring contest. israel is militarily better placed than Iran on a one on one battle agreed. My question was Iran has no reason to nuke israel in seeking nuclear capability as they would affect their allies. How can iran be arming Hezbollah to fight the Palestinian cause and then go and nuke the same Israel that is within the same land mass as the Palestinians or are they going to secretly move all Arabs out of Israel first?? i think you'll find youre the dumb yout in that context.

furthermore, nuking Israel will kills thousands of Muslims in Palestinian territory, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Sinai peninsula of Egypt. Thus it will give Saudis and their allies a chance to attack Iran. Iran is very mature state and it will not risk its existence by nuking Israel. this is not about Iran but the daemons wanting to maintain their selfish  interests

Do you have an insider knowledge about the Iranian regime's vis a vis it's regional ambitions, strategy and capability?

No? Well, I do, because it happens to be my country so please stfu with your nonsense.

Iran does not have a nuclear weapon, the consequences of it nuking Israel are neither here nor there. They will never have a nuclear weapon either, Israel will burn all my family members alive without warning whilst they are munching chelo kabab before they let that happen. Mossad has assets and sleeper cells infiltrated at the highest levels of the IRGC, every time Khamenei farts Netanyahu gets a report dropped on his desk.

Meanwhile the only card Iran has in its sleeve is hezbollah, which at worst can only inflict minor civilian losses on Israel. Israel does not fight symmetrically, kill 1 Israeli and it's 100 dead Arabs on a calm day. They consider themselves a besieged territory, perpetually prone to forced exile and genocide, both tactics which they will perpetrate themselves to prevent either prospect becoming even a remote possibility.

The only thing tangible in reach which will bring peace is regime change in Iran by its people, which is underway already. Israel will not change and nobody can make them do so. khalas

Youre a fucking idiot mate, u don't know  shit about my country, as evidenced in all the fraff  in your posts written like someone with an acquired brain injury with English as their 2nd language.

Everyone has an opinion about my country these days but they can't name the top ten commanders in the revolutionary guards corps,  can't name ten prominent political prisoners, they don't know who's beefing who to grab succession for position of Supreme leader, they don't know that there is a coup d'etat being planned against the president right now, they don't know that the Supreme leaders son mojtaba has moved 200 billion dollars in cash to an airfield outside Moscow and a similar amount in Johannesburg under armed guard for when the mullahs have to flee, don't know that there's a general strike by traders spreading across the country as we speak, they just generally know piss about shit but speak about with gravitas in their voice about Middle East like it's game of thrones.

lol since YOU know that a coup is being planned against the president, its safe to say the secret is still safe.

cnn knows this info too, http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-394889

stop fronting like you have some insider link with the govt or anti govt agents...

my point was that Iran having a nuclear weapon would not be to strike israel, and by having one it means saudi would want one which would mean less reliance on the US MIC as a deterrent and less billion dollar arms deals for them
