Jay-Z has a new record coming out. Soon. It's hitting the world on 4 July. And it's already sold a million copies.
How? As part of a partnership announced along with the album, which gives Kanye West a run for his Yeezus money with the title Magna Carta Holy Grail, Samsung will be releasing the album free to one million Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4, and Galaxy Note II users through a special app 72 hours before its on-sale date. Since the company paid $5 (£3.20) a pop for each copy of the record, according to the Wall Street Journal, Hova has now already sold a million copies of an album few people knew existed before the commercial announcing it aired during the NBA finals game on 16 June between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs.

lads,
all i said was this clip was cringe
marketing hip hop this way is cringe
the clip is orchestrated to imitate all those golden studio moments we loved
why would hip hop, a genre about keeping it real do that?
i'm not hating cos its an advert
i personally don't need adverts to find the sh*t i like, but i can respect a good one
Jay Z don't need no adverts neither
he just needs to sell millions of records in an era when records don't sell so he can maintain his boss of all bosses business man image
i'm all for a unique marketing strategy but this move is corporate and slimy, just like Jay Z
i will always check for his albums don't worry about that it's not a hate ting
he'll never be my favourite rapper cos there's rarely any heart and soul to his music but he's nice so it's all good
i ain't pretentious
i'm passionate
i don't care if your John Coltrane or IMP Batch
if that shits real than thats my motherf*cking sh*t!
whilst i typed this out i just see this come on the telly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spXhdFlk_qE
now that's a good advert!
but then it's from a corporate organisation and not one of the greatest artists of all time
don't quote me and just give it the "chatting sh*t"
have a debate, come at me
but i'm stating facts, lads

I was with you reading that post and then I pressed play on the video.
'Lol we're all different but we're connected by shitty food' - nah sorry I'm not a fan of attaching sentiment to shite that is actually meaningless.
Neither Jay Z or Samsung are trying to dress it up as something else in the way that Mcdonalds are.
They said to him make an album as you normally do and we'll buy it to put on our phones - simple.

mate are you serious?
is that what you thought i meant by keeping it real?
the advert was just an example of a good advert from a slimy corporation
mcdonalds marketing schemes don't infringe on the things i care about, like art
aside from that our countries been going through a good food revolution for years now
everyone knows mcdonalds is bogus, not everyone knows Jay Z is tho
